Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili said on Friday that Georgia’s role had grown increasingly important amid ongoing regional conflicts and a shifting geopolitical landscape, particularly for Central Asian countries.
She noted that Georgia’s importance to Central Asian countries spanned multiple areas and was shaped by a range of strategic and economic considerations.
“Considering the current realities in our region and the conflicts taking place around us, Georgia’s role has undoubtedly grown. This is clearly evident for the countries of Central Asia”, Botchorishvili said.
“First and foremost, we are talking about connectivity, practical links and access to both European and global markets. Today’s meeting also demonstrated that Georgia is a very important country for Central Asia in ensuring access to international markets”, she added.
Botchorishvili said the meeting had also addressed various sectors in which the countries could strengthen practical cooperation.
“Transport and logistics are areas of shared interest for all of us. Deepening connectivity requires regular cooperation between institutions, which is why political dialogue is important”, she concluded.
