Georgian national team winger and Paris Saint-Germain star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has reacted to his official nomination for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, expressing his gratitude after receiving high praise from football legends including Michel Platini and Toni Kroos.
Kvaratskhelia said recognition from some of the biggest names in football serves as confirmation that his hard work and dedication are paying off.
“Yeah, it’s a pleasure. When players like this, the legends, are saying that I deserve it, it’s already a pleasure. When maybe just one person on the planet thinks that you deserve something, a trophy that is one of the biggest in football, it means that I’m doing my job correctly. I just want to continue at the same level and let’s see what life gives me. I’m ready for everything”, Kvaratskhelia said.
The PSG star added that the final decision will be determined by the Ballon d’Or voters, but said he was proud to be competing alongside the world’s top players and to have reached such a milestone with the French club.
“I think it doesn’t depend on me. It depends on the people who decide it. But to be among these players in the race, it’s a real pleasure. In life and in football, I believe in everything. That’s why today I’m here at PSG, and I’m really proud”, he concluded.
Kvaratskhelia has been officially named among the 30 nominees for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, football’s most prestigious individual award.
