Rati Ionatamishvili, the Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration, on Monday said that double standards had become the defining feature of the European Union and the European Commission.
In his remarks, Ionatamishvili noted that the alleged double standards had resulted in violence being tolerated within their own ranks.
“It is regrettable that they make statements about Georgia with a different tone and change the substance of their statements when it suits them. This further undermines the image and reputation of European institutions”, he said.
The European Commission said it condemned violence during protests in Albania.
In a statement, the Commission described reports of violence during the demonstrations, including arson, attacks on public institutions and the destruction of public and private property, as concerning.
