Georgian Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Thursday said the visit of UN Tourism Secretary General Shaikha Al Nuwais to Georgia would provide another important basis for supporting and further developing the country’s tourism sector.
Kvrivishvili noted that a number of important meetings were held during Al Nuwais’ visit, including a bilateral meeting between the two officials.
“We are greatly honoured to host the Secretary General of the UN Tourism Organisation, Shaikha Nasser Al Nuwais, and, during her visit, introduce her to representatives of our country’s tourism sector, our tourism products, gastronomy, culture, and everything we are very proud of”, Kvrivishvili said.
She said the meeting focused on Georgia’s significant achievements in the tourism and transport sectors.
“We discussed, of course, the global challenges facing the sector and outlined joint plans and visions for further strengthening cooperation between Georgia and the UN Tourism Organisation. I would also particularly highlight a new initiative concerning potential cooperation in the field of tourism education”, Kvrivishvili said.
The Economy Minister said the UN Tourism Secretary General’s visit would serve as another important foundation for supporting and further developing Georgia’s tourism sector.
